After one blissful week of vacation–defining vacation of course as “learning to sleep in 3 hour blocks, change dirty diapers every hour and trying to adjust to being completely responsible for another human being”–Derek had to return to work today. Adelaide was wonderful (as always) and slept from 1am until 5:30am, then later woke up with her Daddy at 7:30 to have her diaper changed. I worried about being alone with her, especially as it relates to things I previously took for granted. As I fed her at 10:30, I wondered “what is my game plan on trying to sneak in a shower and perhaps even brushing my teeth??” Luckily, I was able to sit her in her vibrating chair in the bathroom and she very happily looked around for 15 minutes.

It has been fun looking at her get chubbier by the day! As of last friday (8/01), she was back to her birth weight of 8lbs 2oz, which was very exciting since just a few days before, she was down to 7lbs 7oz.  It looks like most of that weight has been stored in her cheeks, hence her new nickname of Chipmunk!

Bella has done an amazing job being a good doggie around Addie. Whenever she cries or makes one of those adorable baby noises, Bella is right there making sure she is okay. The only thing we have to watch out for is Bella’s killer tongue–she is always trying to sneak kisses, which oddly enough, does not seem to bother Adelaide one bit. The other night, the girls had some bonding time while we watched a movie. They even shared a pillow!

It has also been fun watching her make various poses while she sleeps. It fascinates me that some of those are identical to her 3D ultrasound pictures, meaning she had already discovered those comfy positions in utero. Here’s a few of her favorites:

I am hoping to update this blog a few times per week since I have now mastered the skill of nursing and typing with one hand!

Love to everyone!
